In the words of one teary-eyed parent, “Lakewood is the happiest place on earth I think.” Staff have invested time and resources in developing character traits in their students that will last a lifetime. Moreover, students have the opportunity to practice their character skills by accepting leadership responsibilities throughout the school. Students participate in Kindness Crew, PeerPE Helpers, and are responsible for leading their own school neighborhood. This year, Lakewoodneighborhoods participated in the Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser, packing meals at Meals for the Heartland, collecting supplies for the homeless, collecting gifts for Operation Santa, bringing in pop tabs to support the Ronald McDonald House, and participating in Kindness Month. Students also adopted Edencrest Care Facility and made a commitment to have a student group visit the adult care facility at least once per month.
Lakewood is creating a culture where authentic experiences building habits that will helpstudents as they grow into adulthood.
